Lincoln University, Soldiers’ Memorial Interpretive Signage and Donor Recognition
Jefferson City, Missouri
A sculpture was commissioned by Lincoln University to commemorate the history of the University’s founding by men from the 62nd and 65th Colored Infantries and their Captain. Graphic design elements reinforce the story of the founding. The design of walkways and plaques borrow the forms of a civil war military compass. Cast bronze story plaques along the terrace steps tell the soldiers’ story. Bronze Civil War compass plaques at four pedestrian intersections orient campus students and visitors.
