Edward Jones, Parking Garage
St. Louis, Missouri
Christner provided architectural and landscape design services for this new detached garage and pedestrian bridge connecting newly renovated 201 Progress Parkway to the new garage. The 3-bay parking structure is “open air” and houses approximately 704 cars on four levels, with the ability to add on in the future.
The garage and pedestrian link (together with the existing building) create a portal to the Edward Jones corporate campus. Thus, special attention was placed on the exterior of the garage - especially on the public facades. The pedestrian bridge houses a small coffee bar and informal meeting space, putting collaborative activity on display at the entry to the campus.
Architecturally, the garage enclosure is intended to change over time. Depending on a person's point of view, the garage will open and close in transparency, and as people move around the garage, the facade is in continuous perceptual flux. Additionally, the movement of sun, both seasonally and diurnally has significant impact on the appearance of the garage.
