Shriners Hospitals for Children - St. Louis
St. Louis, Missouri
Shriners Hospitals for Children enhances clinical care and research collaborations with St. Louis Children’s Hospital and the Washington University School of Medicine in a new facility designed by Christner. The new hospital shifts from a conventional inpatient mode to an outpatient focus, supported by surgical and inpatient care. Special features include family quarters for overnight stays, a clinical research center for metabolic bone diseases, and dedicated space for collaborative research.
Delivering this spectrum of services requires a variety of spaces to accommodate pediatric patients, their families, and the volunteers, doctors and staff who support them. Christner’s designers responded with a building that is easy to navigate and offers kids of all abilities a range of experiences that focus on exploration, family support, therapy, and healing.
Christner’s architects established the identity and visibility of Shriner Hospitals for Children - St. Louis using a high-performance curtainwall, combined with cast stone accents and the Shriners logo.
