Perry County Memorial Hospital, Surgery and Inpatient Addition
Maintaining service quality for patients and operational efficiency for staff led to the planning decision to add a two-story addition that provides an all-new surgery suite on the first floor (two ORs and two endoscopy rooms) and a 22-bed inpatient unit (single occupancy) on the second floor.
The 53,000 sf building addition wraps around the existing building and provides a new main entrance to the critical access hospital. The loading dock and power plant, displaced by the addition, are added at the opposite side of the building and circulation for service vehicles has been rerouted. Christner also provided crucial seismic upgrades to the building to provide for a safer environment for users. As a result, the hospital has a new image in the community; a more convenient and consolidated campus for users; and a more energy-efficient plant to meet the operational demands of the future.
