Butler University, Interdisciplinary Sciences Study
Christner led the programming and design study for the Commission on the Sciences, tasked with developing a new facility model to enhance interdisciplinary interaction and increase the availability of faculty/student research space. Working with deans and faculty representatives, we led an in-depth process that included a benchmarking study of peer institutions, user group meetings, and a detailed analysis of enrollment projections for classes in the sciences. As a result, we recommended a building addition that consolidates the sciences in one facility, including Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, the science library and IT. It creates new, state-of-the art instruction labs with co-located general classroom and computation areas.
The Commission on the Sciences study is currently being revisited for further evaluation based on new enrollment projections and emerging pedagogical changes.
