Expressing School Culture through Architecture

Christner designed a new classroom addition for grades five and six at Community School.  The addition expresses the school’s values of student-teacher collaboration and connections to the natural world.  Tucked into the surrounding woods, the new classrooms and breakout spaces offer a variety of flexible learning environments.  Direct access to the nearby nature trail benefits the science curriculum.

A new entry plaza welcomes students each morning and works in tandem with the reconfigured entry drive to create a safer carpool experience.
