I had the opportunity this week to participate in a workshop "Reimagining the ED" that was part of the Healthcare Facilities Symposium taking place in Austin. The workshop was organized and led by Durell Coleman of DC Design.
The goal of the workshop was to identify issues common to emergency departments and then offer creative solutions for those problems. The effort was on behalf of the Federal Guidelines Institute (FGI) in support of incorporating new ideas into the design guidelines that would improve the efficiency and effective ness of hospital emergency departments. On this International Women’s Day, I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation to all of the women in our firm. Christner is progressive in that well over 50% of our professional staff is women; however 100% of our administrative professionals, marketing department, accounting department, and IT department are women. This morning I was reflecting on the concept of A Day without a Woman; in our office that would mean that elevators to our office space would not be unlocked for business, the phones would not be answered, the couriers would not be called to pick-up packages, there would be no support if our computer system or copiers were to fail, no invoices would be sent, no bills would be paid, no marketing proposals would go out. Thank you to all of the women who make our office a great place to work and all of the men in the office and at home who support us. […]
