St. Vincent Greenway

Urban planning and streetscape design to revitalize a community

As part of the ongoing effort to connect the St. Louis Region via a series of greenways, Christner completed master planning for the St. Vincent Greenway, a key north-south greenway at the heart of a large system of interconnected greenways. The goal of the Greenway System is to join previously separated communities through greenways connected by walking/biking paths, existing parks and civic amenities, development corridors, cultural institutions and historic sites. Christner led a participatory process involving a series of public forums and the input of citizen advisory committees, in order to tailor the development of the Greenway to meet the needs of the 15 communities within the project scope. Potential sources of funding were also identified. This revitalization will achieve the goals of the Greenway plan to promote social capital, environmental stewardship and economic development.
